Detox programs

How do we help our liver to reduce the toxic load?

Our body is a wonder of nature, a machine that does not make mistakes, does not skip a heartbeat, does not forget to breathe and performs thousands of self-regulating functions second by second. It has the wonderful ability to regenerate, heal himself, and detoxify. However, we live in a world with a high load of toxins: the water contains chlorine, fluoride, copper and chemicals that reach the aquifers; our food contains aluminum, mercury, arsenic, chemicals, pesticides, hormones and antibiotics; we breathe gases, suspended particles, fungicides and herbicides; our skin absorbs chemicals through what we touch; we are exposed and various pathogens that our body must fight; we live the emotional load of our own experiences and we are bombarded with news and events that often overwhelm and worry us. That is, despite the fact that our body is wonderful, the toxic load it receives in the fast-paced world we live in today is greater than its processing capacity. Hence the importance of doing a detox diet at least twice a year.

Our liver has the vital task of eliminating toxins, heavy metals and pathogens that we receive through all the routes to which we are exposed and it is also responsible for processing the fats we eat. But, today, what enters is much more than our liver can process so, to prevent these toxins from reaching other organs and tissues, it stores a large part of them, causing what is known as fatty liver. The lymphatic system tries to help the liver in this detoxification process, but the load is excessive and generates lymphatic edema in different parts of the body.

Detox diets seek to give the liver a break so that it can process and release everything it has stored and reduce the workload of the lymphatic system. It is common that during a detox diet the symptoms of some diseases are accentuated and you feel tired. The toxins are being released into the bloodstream and it is important to remove them when before through the urine. Not all toxins are soluble in water, that is, not all toxins are easily flushed through urine so it is important to give the body the tools to eliminate them. Hence the importance of excluding certain foods and including others: we exclude foods to lower the liver's workload and include others to facilitate the excretion of toxins, pathogens, and heavy metals. What's more,
